Sunday Report

Sunday's lesson was given by Jeanette Sharp substituting for Traci Cline.  Lesson 19 discussed repentance, the second principle of the gospel and a natural outgrowth of the first principle, faith in the Lord, Jesus Christ.  Jeanette began by  asking if anyone could remember being really dirty after some activity such as a long camping trip or a trip to the ocean. She noted how good it felt to get home and bathe and feel clean and comfortable once more.  This is not unlike the feeling that can come when one utilizes the process of repentance to cleanse oneself of the sins that often beset us in this mortal experience.
repentanceWe are all in need of this miraculous process of cleansing for we have all sinned and fallen short of the glory of God.  The great plan of happiness took into account that all would have need of such an opportunity, for the mortal experience is a life long process of learning and often sinning, either by omitting doing something we should do, or in ignorance doing something that is not acceptable to God or willfully transgressing the laws we have been given.  Through the Atonement of Jesus Christ we have the chance to overcome our sins and transgressions, and receive forgiveness for them.
The process of repentance is the same for all of the mortal family.  We must recognize that what we have sinned and feel sincere sorrow for what we have done or failed to do.  A broken heart and a contrite spirit describe the sorrow we must feel for our sins.  We must forsake our sins and seek to never repeat them and we must confess them to our Heavenly Father and in some cases to our priesthood leader. We must seek to make restitution for what we have done if it is possible.  If restitution is not possible, then for the truly repentant the Atonement of Christ will make up the difference.  We must forgive others if we desire that our sins will be forgiven.  We must also seek to keep the commandments of God if we are to retain a remission of our sins.

This will bring us freedom from the bondage of our sins and we will therefore find joy in our life.  Repentance should be a regular part of our daily life, as we seek to purge from our life those things that keep up from being worthy to receive the promptings of the Spirit to help us live to be worthy of eternal life.

Next week Peggy Campbell will be presenting the TFOT lesson based on the talk given by Quentin L Cook  "Let There Be Light."

Be sure to join us for all or part of our Fabulous Friday this week and make plans to be part of the Sisters in White next week,
