Relief Society, which has the responsibility "to look after the spiritual welfare and salvation… of all the female members of the Church, was organized to provide 'relief of the poor, the destitute, the widow, and the orphan, and for the exercise of all benevolent purposes.' This includes 'relief of poverty, relief of illness, relief of doubt, relief of ignorance; relief of all that hinders the joy and progress of woman.' " - Julie B. Beck

Sunday Update

Sister Vach presented the Presidency message using the theme of the Plan of Salvation. It is vital that we are often reminded of the elements of this great plan that was designed to bring happiness to each one of Heavenly Father's children. In the premortal world we were taught this plan and embraced it wholeheartedly, shouting for joy at the opportunities it would give each one of us to receive a body and come to earth to learn and be tested so that we might qualify for immortality and some degree of glory throughout eternity. The path we choose here in mortality will determine the destination at which we ultimately arrive. Because of the Atonement of Jesus Christ, it is possible for us, imperfect as we are, to use our agency and the miracle of repentance to eventually reach the Celestial Kingdom and receive all that the Father has. In that process of qualifying and enduring to the end, we can be helped and strengthened by one another, serving that we might help, while developing the necessary attributes to live again with Heavenly Father. As we do what is asked of us, whether it is keeping the commandments and the covenants we have made, serving in the callings we have received, or acting on the whisperings of the Spirit, we are refining and preparing ourselves for eternity and the joys of Eternal Life.

Have a great week!
