Relief Society, which has the responsibility "to look after the spiritual welfare and salvation… of all the female members of the Church, was organized to provide 'relief of the poor, the destitute, the widow, and the orphan, and for the exercise of all benevolent purposes.' Sunday Report

Sunday's lesson was #16 Offer Up Thy Sacraments Upon My Holy Day given by Yvonne Lucas

When George Albert Smith was a boy, he had the same desires to play ball on Sundays, just like all his friends, but his wise mother never said he couldn't go out to play, just told him that he would be happier if he did not do that. He received wise training in the home and came to learn where happiness comes from and it is in keeping the commandments of God and that keeping the Sabbath day holy brings great blessings.

The sacrament is all important to our Sabbath day worship and was instituted by our Savior, to partake in remembrance of the body and blood of His atoning sacrifice.
It is an opportunity to renew our covenants with Him who gave His life and to remember Him.
It is a sacred privilege to partake of the sacrament.

We regularly feed our physical body for strength and we need to feed our spiritual body for spiritual strength. The sacrament can be a deeply spiritual feast. We must always be sure to partake worthily and in a spiritual state of mind, with clean hands and a pure heart and a desire to be acceptable to our Father. We can come to better love one another as our Father has asked of us.

The Sabbath day can be one of rest, renewal, a spiritual uplift that can better prepare us for the coming week.
