Relief Society, which has the responsibility "to look after the spiritual welfare and salvation… of all the female members of the Church, was organized to provide 'relief of the poor, the destitute, the widow, and the orphan, and for the exercise of all benevolent purposes.' This includes 'relief of poverty, relief of illness, relief of doubt, relief of ignorance; relief of all that hinders the joy and progress of woman.' " - Julie B. Beck

Sunday Report

This past Sunday was Ward Conference and we did not have our traditional Relief Society lesson. Instead we were fortunate to hear from our ward and stake leaders. Most of us were able to attend the 3rd hour together.

The thing I took away and have been thinking about was something President Rodarde said. As he talked about the huge struggles and challenges our youth are facing he stressed that we, the adults of the ward need to take care of the adults so that the bishop(ric) can take care of the youth. I never realized that by faithfully doing our home and visiting teaching we are indirectly helping the youth of the church. He also talked about the influence for good we can have on the youth as we associate with them.

I'm grateful for these reminders.
