Sunday Report

Today's lesson was given by Traci Cline, entitled The Second Coming of Jesus Christ.  From the time of Jesus Christ's  ascension into heaven, His followers have looked forward to the Second Coming.  Chapter 44 of the Gospel Principles outlines what Jesus Christ will do when He comes again to the earth.

First of all He will cleanse the earth of all the wicked, and all the corruption, by fire.  He will then judge His people.  He will judge the nations and divide the righteous from the wicked.  The righteous will live and reign with Him for a thousand years, and the wicked will not live again until the thousand years of peace are finished.  He will usher in the Millennium where He will reign in power and glory and perfection in sharp contrast to the rule of man prior to His coming.  It will be a time for temple work where all of God's children who have lived on the earth from the beginning will be linked together in families and the necessary temple work will be done for them, thus making an unbroken chain back to Adam.  He will complete the First Resurrection.  All who have earned the privilege of coming forth in the resurrection of the just will rise from their graves to meet the Savior as He comes down from heaven.  Along with those who have been resurrected since the His resurrection, these will be those who will inherit  the glory of the celestial kingdom.  Those who will inherit terrestrial glory will be resurrected  next and the First Resurrection will be complete.  The wicked will have to wait until the Millennium is over before they will be resurrected to inherit telestial glory or be cast into outer darkness.  Christ will take His rightful place as King of heaven and earth, establishing His government on the earth.  The Church will be part of that kingdom. There will be a thousand years of peace under His rule of righteousness. 

Sister Cline divided the class into five separate groups, each one given one of the subjects above to discuss, research and illustrate.  Then each group shared its findings and art work with the class.  It motivated good discussion in the groups and as the presentations were made, insights were shared and comments made.  It was a great opportunity to review this momentous occasion to which we are looking forward with eagerness and perhaps a little nervous anticipation.  If we are on the right path, accepting the teachings of the gospel, looking to the prophet for guidance, making sure that we are worthy of the promptings of the Holy Ghost and willing to act on those promptings, focused on those things that matter most in the eternal scheme of things, we can look forward to the Second Coming without fear but with happy anticipation.
