Sunday Report

Sunday's lesson was Chapter 39, The Law of Chastity was given by Traci Cline.  She began by reminding us that we have been told by Church leaders that it is the responsibility of parents to teach their children about procreation, beginning early and talking to them about their bodies with reverence and respect, using correct names for parts and functions, and telling them only what they are capable of understanding at that age.  If done thoughtfully and carefully we will also be teaching them the law of chastity.  Then children will not have to take their questions to others who might give them improper attitudes or incorrect ideas.

purity Theg power of procreation is sacred and a vital part of Heavenly Father's plan and the family is central to that plan.   The law of chastity has been given to us to help safeguard that vital ability to bring spirit children to earth that they might gain their mortal bodies.  It encompasses many aspects of our behavior including dress and language and the way we act.  Modesty in dress and actions and language can safeguard virtue and help us keep the law of chastity and it is vital that it be taught from the beginning with small children.  The world as we know it is filled with immodesty and vulgarity and casual attitudes toward the sacred powers given to us for Heavenly Father's divine purpose.  Our children need to know that such temptations have always been here because Satan knows the importance of this power and seeks to entice people to break that law and corrupt those powers.

Breaking the law of chastity is extremely serious, but there is still hope, through the Atonement of Christ, for those who have been deceived. Our children need to know that also.  Keeping the law of chastity will allow us to live without guilt or shame and we will be able to pass on a pure and clean heritage to our children.

Next Week :  TFOT given by Peggy Campbell will be the talk by Elder D. Todd Christofferson  "
