Sunday Report

Sunday's lesson was Chapter 34 of the Gospel Principles Manual,  "Developing Our Talents" given by Traci Cline.

We are all born into mortality with special gifts, talents and abilities, given to us by Heavenly Father.  We have the responsibility to develop those abilities, which means that we must identify and embrace our unique talents, not comparing them to those of others, but being willing to share and use them so that others might see our good works and glorify our Heavenly Father.  Finding our strengths and abilities may require prayer and time and effort, along with faith that we can get the help we need to make those gifts tools to help in the work of building the kingdom of God on the earth and serving His children.

Despite the weaknesses of mortality, we can overcome those things that would stand in the way of our developing our talents, but we cannot and need not do it alone.  With the help of the Lord, and those who care for us, we can do what is necessary to turn even our weaknesses into talents.  Heber J. Grant had as his motto these words: "That which we persist in doing becomes easier for us to do, not because the nature of the thing is changed, but that our power to do is increased."  That is really the essence of what this earth life is about:  we are here to become all that we can be, that we might be worthy of all that the Father hath, for that is exactly what He wants for us.  We are accountable for those talents and abilities that we have been given and will be blessed  for increasing them and using them wisely.  They and we will be magnified.

Next week TFOT  by Peggy Campbell will be presenting the talk "More Than Conquerors through Him That Loved Us," by Elder Paul V. Johnson of the Seventy

Have a great week and think about the talents that you have been given, that you use each day to bless the lives of your family and friends, rejoicing in these gifts by recognizing them for what they are as gifts from a loving Heavenly Father who knows exactly what we need to do our part in His divine work.
