This includes 'relief of poverty, relief of illness, relief of doubt, relief of ignorance; relief of all that hinders the joy and progress of woman.' " - Julie B. Beck

Sunday Update - Sept 27

Today's Lesson was given by Nicole Hill from the conference talk given by Elder Uchtdorf: The Way of the Disciple.

She began with a story about a Knight who proved his valiant heart by obeying the words of his King to never leave his post, even when he was tempted by others to abandon his assignment and go to the aid of his King and fellow knights who were fighting to defend the kingdom. In the end his King's men were victorious but it was only by the careful obedience of the Knight that the castle had not fallen into enemy hands.

In many ways the way of discipleship requires such devotion to the words of our King, despite what lures of the world may tempt us to abandon our post for the more inviting call of the world. The gospel is the key that will unlock the gate to eternal life while providing us with a life of happiness, peace and fulfillment here on earth. The ways of the world may look inticing but will never give us the answer to all our problems the way the gospel will. By filling our hearts and minds with the message of the risen Christ our desire to follow Him and live His teachings will increase as will our faith. Repentence will help us take upon us the name of the Savior and receive the gift of the Holy Ghost, and utilize it in our lives to serve others, to be peacemakers, more patient with the faults of others and more determined to abandon our own faults and imperfections. The first step to discipleship begins whereever we are. We do not have to be perfect to be a disciplie, we need only desire to be better, more Christlike and more humble. It is always the right time to walk in His way, it is never too late.

Sunday October 11th Jennifer Walker will teach Joseph Smith Lesson 41.
