Relief Society, which has the responsibility "to look after the spiritual welfare and salvation… of all the female members of the Church, was organized to provide 'relief of the poor, the destitute, the widow, and the orphan, and for the exercise of all benevolent purposes.' This includes 'relief of poverty, relief of illness, relief of doubt, relief of ignorance; relief of all that hinders the joy and progress of woman.' " - Julie B. Beck

Goodbye Beth Willis

What a beautiful WILLIS family!
The Willis Family has moved out of our Ward, but they still live very close in the neighboring Kent Stake, Lake Sawyer Ward. For those of us that didn't know the Willis Family, here is a write up about their family. Surely, we will still see them around Maple Valley and at church functions.

Josh and Beth met at BYU-Idaho and have been married 6 years. They have three little girls, Shannon- 5, Emma- 4, and Hannah Miley- 10 months. Josh is from Idaho Falls and Beth grew up in Washington. Josh is an IT Manager for a Marine Engineering company in Seattle while Beth stays at home enjoying photography, digital scrapbooking, and spending time with the family.

Beth grew up in the Cedar River Ward, having moved to Maple Valley when she was 10 years old. She lived in the same house until 2007. After 4 years of marriage, they bought a new house in the Kentlake Highlands Community near Lake Sawyer and Kentlake High School. They only lived there 1 year and then decided to be closer to Seattle for Josh’s commute. They rented out their house during this time, but having trouble renting the house again, it is time to move back in. Traffic is not as bad these days, with all the Puget Sound layoffs. Sad, but true. Needless to say, this is a good time to settle back in to their home, before their oldest starts kindergarten in the fall.

So, for now, we say GOODBYE from Cedar River, you will be missed, but you are not far away!
