Sunday Report

The lesson was given by Sister Traci Cline and was Chapter 9 in the Gospel Principles Manual.  "Surely the Lord /God will do nothing, but he revealeth his secret unto his servants the prophets." (Amos 3:7).  PerhaArtBook__137_137__ThomasSMonson____ps the most distinctive aspect of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter -day Saints is our belief in a living prophet who speaks for God in these times just as the prophets of old spoke in their day.   A prophet is a man called by God to be His representative on earth and he carries all the authority to act in the name of God and to delegate to others the authority to do His work here on earth.  He speaks directly to the Lord's people, and to all the world, if they will listen, concerning matters that are important to this time and the unique circumstances of these latter days.  He is a special witness for Christ, testifying of His divinity and teaching His gospel.  He is chosen by God, who looks upon the heart and therefore his preparation does not include any specific earthly degrees, but rather comes from foreordained experiences and righteous living.  He always is called through the proper priesthood authority and bears the keys of all that  authority, being the only one to have them as he serves.  All priesthood authority is delegated by him.  He also serves as the President of the Church and only he has the right to receive revelation for the entire Church. The living prophet, who speaks today is more vital to us than those prophets who served other times and than the scriptures where those other prophets' words are recorded.  The Conference issues of the Ensign are therefore scripture of great importance to our spiritual and temporal well being. We have been promised that the living prophet will never be allowed to lead the Church contrary to the will of the Lord.  When we do what the prophet directs we will receive the blessings of heaven.  We are richly blessed to have a living prophet through whom the Lord can and does deliver His will for us today.

Next Sunday TFOT   Sister Hill will be teaching Elder Hollands talk Place No More for the Enemy of My Soul.

Have a great week,
The Relief Society Presidency
