Sunday Report

Today's lesson from the Gospel Principles Manual was #2 Our Heavenly Family.  It was given by Sister Camille Churchill substituting for Sister Cline who is vacationing with family in Hawaii (not fair but that is life).

Knowledge that there is a God, a Supreme and Absolute Being in whom we believe and worship, was established in the first lesson and now we are reminded that not only does He exist, but that He is also our Heavenly Father and that all men and women are literally the sons and daughters of God.  We lived with Him in the premortal world as His spirit children and prepared to come to earth to take the next step in our journey to qualify to become like Him and live with Him again.  In that premortal world we prepared for this second estate by developing talents and abilities that would help us here.  Sister Churchill had us list those things we saw in ourselves as talents and abilities.  As we thought about our strengths and abilities she led us realize that those talents and abilities are gifts from a loving Heavenly Father to help us to serve and progress here on earth, and they also help us become more like Him if we choose to develop them and use them in His service.

In the premortal world we learned of His Plan of Happiness that would allow us to do all that was necessary to return and live with Him.  Knowledge that we are the children of a loving Heavenly Father, who knows us personally and individually, and loves us even when we are struggling to make wise choices and find the path back to Him is a very comforting and inspiring thing.  Take time to read the lesson  and go to some of the scriptures mentioned.
