Today we had the first lesson from our new Gospel Principles manual given by Jennifer Walker. Entitled Our Heavenly Father, it dealt with the primary foundation principle of the gospel--that there is a God, that He has definite attributes, and that our relationship to Him is that of child to Parent. Through scriptures and the sharing of personal experiences we were reminded how we, individually can come to the sure knowledge of these important truths, and can help others to understand them also. The unique understanding the we, as Latter-day Saints, have of the nature of the "Supreme and Absolute Being" in whom we believe and worship, and our relationship to Him, makes it easier to approach Him and seek the confirmation of His existence and of His love and concern for us personally. As we search the scriptures and our own experiences we are affirmed in our love for and belief in a loving, caring, all wise Father who is desirous of sharing with each one of us all that He has if we will but prepare ourselves to receive it. This manual will build on this concept as we review point by point the elements of this gospel which promises to all who earnestly seek, the eternal joy of living with our Father and other members of our eternal family forever worlds without end. Those of you who teach others on Sunday will be richly blessed by finding time to review these lessons as we have them each week, seeking out the scriptures presented and then reflecting on how it pertains to your life.
