Dear Sisters,
After last week Relief Society looked a little sparse! We missed you but know you are performing great service for our youth and children.
The Presidency message was given by JoAnn Bohlin and based on a talk by former General RS President Bonnie Parkin about teaching in Relief Society. Emphasizing the importance of having the Spirit fill the RS room each Sunday, she stressed the necessity of all sisters taking responsibility for making the lessons successful, sharing comments where each sister's unique life experiences and perspectives enrich both learner and teacher. Participation by all sisters will enhance learning and testimonies and strengthen the bonds of sisterhood and help meet the needs of individual sisters who might be in need of just the insight and wisdom that another sister is inspired to share. The teacher is the facilitator who prayerfully weaves the framework upon which other sisters can build with their comments and testimonies. It was stressed that each sister should come to class having read the lesson and thought about the material, bringing scriptures and lesson manual and Ensign with her each week Thus each lesson truly becomes "our" lesson not just the teacher's lesson. We encourage you who cannot join us to at least read the lessons and think about their meaning. A schedule for the next four months is available from the RS Presidency to help you keep current and we will try to give some insight into the lesson each week on this Relief Society Report.
Please try to make room in your busy lives for the material that the Lord has inspired to be prepared for us. You will be blessed in your life, in your family and in your calling for the effort you make to do this.
Have a great week and take time to read lesson #33 in the Joseph Smith manual.
