Dear Sisters,
Sister Julee Schneider presented Lesson 32, Responding to Persecution with Faith and Courage substituting for Traci Cline. After discussing the various forms of persecution endured by the early members of the Lord's restored Church, Julee asked why this small group of Saints was called upon to suffer so much. This refiner's fire separated the wheat from the tares, strengthened and honed the faithful, and came also because Satan sought to destroy this vital work in its infancy. The Lord chastens and refines those He loves and those who love Him, that they might become all that they can be. We are not unlike those early Saints, though our tests and trials may take different forms. Life was not meant to be easy. Trials will inevitably come, in various forms including perhaps persecution for the sake of the gospel, and they still serve to refine and polish, if we "endure it well," that we may qualify for eternal life. "But a small moment" in mortality,(or perhaps several such moments) holds the key that unlocks the door to "all that the Father hath," for all who endure to the end in righteousness.
